Do You Want to Protect Gildersome from Massive Over Development? Are You Helping to Keep Our Village as a Village?

Avatar for Gildersome Parish Council

A few weeks ago, the Parish Council posted details regarding the Leeds Local Plan and potential development sites in Gildersome. So far, we are aware that only a few residents have written or emailed their comments and objections. If we do nothing, Leeds City Council will literally bulldoze many of these development plans through.

Aerial of Gildersome village showing the locations of 9 proposed development sites, each marked and numbered for reference.

In addition, there does seem a lot of focus on the Brownhills. It is a very well known and loved area, but the majority of the Brownhills is within the Drighlington Parish boundary, so there will be a lot of objections from Drighlington residents. Plus, the topography may make it difficult to develop.
By all means, sign a petition, but Gildersome also needs to focus on the immediate locations directly on our doorstep. The development of these sites will have a far greater adverse effect on our village. Sites such as Highfields/ Harthill (LPS00303), and Gilead Farm (LPS00744). Increasing
the urban sprawl of Gildersome will have a huge impact on our quality of life – traffic congestion and air pollution, overcrowded schools and medical
centres and the loss of crucial green space.

Petitions are all very well, but we know from past experience that individual letters/emails are crucial. Send your comments and objections via:
• Email: leedslocalplan@leeds.gov.uk
• Online response: www.leeds.gov.uk/llp
• Letter to Leeds Local Plan Consultation, Policy & Plans Group, Merrion House, 9th Floor East, 110 Merrion Centre, LS2 8BB.

We only have until Monday 15th September.

Please Help to Protect our Lovely Village.
