Bradford City Council Greenbelt Development Proposal
While the proposed site is not within our parish area, Bradford City Council has submitted a proposal for a development on Greenbelt land situated to the north of Westgate Hill, on the boundary with Drighlington. The plans include the construction of approximately 1,000 new homes.
It is anticipated that the proposed development may have implications for the surrounding area, particularly due to the loss of Greenbelt land, objections raised by the Environment Agency, the use of high-quality agricultural land important for future food security, and the potential for increased traffic congestion on local roads including Bradford Road, Whitehall Road, and Gelderd Road, as well as the wider network such as the A650, A62, and Junction 27.
A number of Drighlington residents are responding to the proposal by submitting letters to Bradford City Council. An objection template letter, drafted by the Morley Borough Independents, is available for residents who wish to view it. Copies can be downloaded here or by emailing clerk@gildersomeparish.gov.uk, or by visiting Drighlington Hub and Library, where printed versions are available for reference.
